Randolph apartments

Though voters in Randolph adopted a charter in 2010 paving the way for a city council and manager form of government, it is one of 14 Bay State localities that was granted permission to keep "the town of" as part of its name. The Norfolk County community is home to just over 32,000 residents.

Randolph was incorporated in 1793 after spending a stint as a southern portion of Braintree and was named for the first president of the Continental Congress, Peyton Randolph.

Shoe manufacturing was a linchpin of the town's early economy and was the birthplace of several styles of footwear including the "Randies." The industry attracted workers from neighboring New England states and later, immigrants from Italy and Ireland, and the products from these factories were shipped across the globe.

The drop off of the industry in the early part of the 20th century made Randolph a more residential area that still hosts a handful of light manufacturing outfits, but the community's close proximity to public transportation and major highways has attracted new residents from larger cities, many of whom work in the Boston area.

These days Randolph has a high school, a middle school and four elementary schools, fire and police protection, a public library and an active parks and recreation department.

Possibilities for renters in the Randolph area include Highland House Apartments on Highland Glen Drive.
